Statement by Fragrance Creators’ President & CEO, Farah K. Ahmed, on EPA Proposal to Amend the New Chemicals Review Process
“Fragrance Creators appreciates the opportunity to comment on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed amendments to the regulations that govern the Agency’s review of new chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Since the passage of the Lautenberg Chemical Safety Act in 2016, we have been working with nongovernmental and governmental stakeholders alike to educate and advocate on the New Chemicals Program and we appreciate the opportunity to continue engaging in this area. We plan to closely review EPA’s proposal and submit public comments.
The fragrance industry is constantly innovating to develop new olfactory profiles, advance the well-being benefits that fragrance delivers, and importantly, create newer, greener chemistries that advance environmental sustainability. Creativity and innovation are the lifeblood of the fragrance industry, and our members are committed to responsibly advancing fragrance growth while ensuring human, community, and environmental needs are prioritized and justly integrated. Given this constant innovation, the New Chemicals Program is of particular interest to the fragrance industry. We look forward to working with EPA on these proposed amendments to the program.”
